What You Need To Know About Kitchen Bar Stools

An excellent feature to have in a kitchen these days is a breakfast bar, or kitchen counter complete with kitchen bar stools. They make for excellent places to grab a quick bite, have a coffee with a friend and can even open up a little bit of extra workspace for those big meals.

Whilst it is best to buy your stools when you first install a counter, it is perfectly possible to leave this until all works have finished. Alternatively, simply changing the kitchen bar stools can update an existing breakfast bar.

The most important thing to get right of course is the height of the stools. Many types are fully adjustable, however it is important that a comfortable seating position can be achieved at the highest setting and that storage is adequate; particularly for rigid wooden stools.

A standard height is about thirty to thirty-two inches or so, though this is something that varies. Many are available that also have adjustable foot rests; which can be extremely useful for use by children.

As well as a number of different types, there are a host of styles too. Some time should be spent deciding which of these will fit into the space most effectively.

For modern and contemporary interiors, stainless steel and aluminum stools will fit in wonderfully well. These tend to be controlled by hydraulics; via a simple lever beneath the seat. Many of the high end ranges have ergonomically sculptured seats too and are extremely comfortable.

If you have a smaller budget however, similar types are available made from plastics and composites. These produce much the same feel as their more expensive counterparts; though may show wear and tear a little more readily through continuous use.

For more traditional homes, something made out of wood may be better of course. These also tend to have more conventional arm and back rests fitted; which can be particularly beneficial for the young and elderly who need lumbar support. Dressed with an accented cushion too, they can really add character alongside anything else.

No matter the style, design, material and control; it is paramount the kitchen bar stools can stand up to constant use of course. It is also worth remembering that they need to be easy to clean; it is almost certain that food and drink spillages will happen every now and then after all!
